A shape of simple beauty - this is such a rare example of Lisa Johansson-Pape’s Model 1323, and this one is extra special as it retains the original white plastic canopy, and comes with impeccable provenance having been acquired directly from Pape’s own studio. How rad!
The shade has a deceptively simple shape - a technique Johansson-Pape perfected throughout her career. The rounded tip has a beautifully soft radius, while the shade opens outward like a flower, subtly retracting at the bottom. It is sculptural without being fussy. I love this light because it is so uncomplicated, unpretentious, and completely perfect.
The Model 1323 is documented as a Stockmann-Orno design by Johansson-Pape from the 1950s; surviving examples are more commonly found with painted metal shades, making this white example particularly unusual. Takes a regular A19 bulb.
