Prior to his tenure at Rörstrand, he established himself as a notable ceramic artist in Denmark, initially at the Bing & Grøndahl Porcelain factory in Copenhagen from 1925 to 1928. In 1928, he co-founded a ceramics workshop in collaboration with chemist Nathalie Krebs, which evolved into Saxbo in 1930 and continued producing his stoneware until 1932. Nylund's association with Rörstrand spanned from 1931 to 1955, with the majority of his time spent as the artistic director.
