I adore this Swedish rug by Solveig Westerberg (marked with her initials, SW), it features a repeating diamond pattern surrounded by circular and geometric designs in shades of green, purple, blue, and red, all set against a textured background of light and dark brown. Classic & chic. Brown is the new black.
Röllakan style - a double interlocked tapestry where the weft threads interlock on the reverse side. Sold by Nils Nessim AB. Featured in The Studio from 1963/4, page 99, volume 53. Kristianstad, Sweden, 1945.
122" x 76"
Hand-knotting wool rugs has been a long-standing tradition in Sweden, evolving over the centuries. By the early 1900s, it had grown into a celebrated art form, with Swedish designers creating vintage Scandinavian rugs that gained recognition and popularity around the world.
