Idman OY Floor Lamp, 1954
Idman OY Floor Lamp, 1954
So rare and so lovely. With the signature brass detailing of Paavo Tynell, this floor lamp made by Idman OY in the 1950s is absolutely exquisite. The fine brass springs and original rattan wrapping takes these lamps to another level of beauty - inspired by freedom and nature, this piece of Tynell's work has a very special feeling. Completely restored & rewired. The Finns are simply the best when it comes to post-war lighting design (it gets dark up there). One available.

Design by Paavo Tynell for Idman OY #60588.
Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) was an industrial designer, known as the great pioneer of Finnish lighting design, known as “the man who illuminated Finland”. A master craftsman himself, Tynell’s designs were derivative of a traditional aesthetic with a modern sensibility. Marked by delicacy and softness, his most famous forms echo the structures of nature.
